On your Mark, Get Set, Go...

Easton is off! Bruce and Easton have been working on his first Pinewood Derby Car for a couple of weeks now. Easton has named it ... FIREBIRD! He has enjoyed designing the shape, sanding it, painting it, and of coarse racing it! The car is painted Metallic Red (Easton's new favorite color) and is sporting flames on the side and a Firebird on the front.

Pinewood Derbies these days are no longer a wooden track and a Scout Master declaring the winner. It has gone high tech with metal tracks complete with electronic sensors, computerized times, mph, rotations of cars and tracks numbers! The winners are flashed on a giant screen so it is exciting for the kids to see how their car placed. Easton's car raced 4 times. Once in each lane. They took an average of the times to determine where each scout placed.

Easton's car did well. He was first in his age group! It was fun to see the race! We hope to learn some tricks for next year from Grandpa Johnston and Grandpa Bischoff. They both have a good track record. Thanks for checking in on us and supporting us from afar!

Cool car Easton!!! That looks just like a real Firebird! He will have to come out to the races in the summer with Oz and me and see the figure eights and trains. He will love it!

If you use some of Dads's tricks you will probably get Easton disqualified!
